The artists’ creative process

The Boon collection provides access to a rare set of more than 100 pieces illustrating the creative stages of the artists. These sketches, drafts, storyboards and models allow us to discover the evolution of a work, from its first idea to its final realisation. Access to these original documents is precious, as it often reveals aspects of the artistic process that are rarely shown to the public.

Among these pieces are sketches by Hergé for Tintin, colouring blues by Franquin and Gotlib, as well as models and preparatory stages of sculptures by Philippe Druillet. These preparatory works show what goes on behind the scenes, offering an insight into the creative process that leads to the realisation of a work. They are essential for understanding the evolution of an idea, its development and the artistic choices made throughout the work.
